This is the only look that i need to catch daddy mummy's attention to give me food. They always surrender to this cute look of mine. How easy was that..

7...is the evil number

Out of nowhere, we own 7 dogs now. All ranging from petite Shit-zhu to grand daddy German Shephard. I'm lucky that i'm pregnant that i dont deal directly with any of them in regards of food and play time. Dogs are weird kind of beings that sometimes you can just be so shocked and amazed and cry in awe of their behaviour.

You see, my bedroom is somewhere near the shelters where we keep the bigger dogs in. Out of the 3 huge dogs, two of them literally play with their eating bowls once they finish their food in the evenings. The klonking and clinking noise could happen anytime after 8pm before 8am. It is utterly annoying when all of the sudden your sweet dreams are shakened by a loud thump from the dropping STAINLESS STEEL BOWL onto cement floor. Then the game could go on for hours...

What the dogs did was flipping the bowls upside down so they would sit on the floor and they would just self entertain themselves moving and pushing the bowls around with their "hands". Then the German shephard dog would bite the end of the bowl and flip it into the air and they just glee with happiness when the bowls made noises. Until they accidentally push the bowls into their neighbour's area, which this third dog doesn't enjoy anything like that thank goodness!, then they would stop.

Unless they could literally speak dog's language for the dog to return them the bowls, i wondered to myself.

Some strangers

In the recent trip to HK (via Sabah & Macau), my last stop was in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. I kept hearing how crystal clear the sea water is, how magnificent the views on the islands are and so on and so forth. I couldn't believe it until i see it for myself. The sayings are all so true. Too good to be true i should say.

So, to be in KK, Sabah, something is really wrong with you if you miss out on the islands. Check out the islands for yourself when you get the chance and by the end of the day, you'll be amazed with what you can do when you're 360 degree surrounded by light and deep blue sea water.

There are basically 5 tiny islands (as they are plotted on the maps) that you can reach via speedboats off the coast of KK. Me and my husband explored Sapi and Manukan Island in a day. Sapi Island is smaller compared to Manukan Island and thus, you can't do much except swimming, playing with the white sands, some snorkelling and some astronaut-like sea-walking as you are required to wear their "helmet" to be able to breathe normally under the sea.

See? It has the astronaut-like helmet that would cover yr entire head and you get to sit on the seat attached to the whole under-the-water "walking" machine. That's what they call sea-walking. You're left with no choice but to get wet if you're going to try that out

Sun-baked sea-walking machines awaiting tourists

Both of us stayed on Sapi Island for 3 hours. Guess what activities we've tried on the island? PARASAILING! We were given the choices of getting wet or not getting wet and we chose the latter. It wasn't as scary and terrible as what i thought (maybe it's becuz we didn't land on the water perhaps) it was. Well, at least i dont leave my life regretting for not trying it out. he he.

We then left for Manukan Island and that was only 5 mins speedboat travel. We took our lunch(we paid for it and a whole bunch of staffs prepare them (straight from their open-air kitchen at a corner of the island). We visited the kitchen staffs and some "locals" on the island warmly greeted us.

Meet the locals!

From our guide, these guys (and girls) have been dwelling on the island for a long time (duh! they're wild) and they are attracted to the food aroma from the kitchen. They feed on those chicken wings, fishes, prawns and they get their food before tourists do. Why? So that they behave well and stay only in that kitchen corner with their tummies filled before they turn aggressive and feed on tourists instead. They do turn wild and become aggressive so do not provoke them. Those reptiles are what Malaysian known as "biawak" in Malay. They're Monitor Lizard and they can grow up to 3 metres. Anything larger than that would eventually stand on their hind legs and become dinosaur (i guess?). Some facts about monitor lizard if you want to get familiar with them before you actually see them yourself. I think their ancestors looked something like this.

On another note, i took this photo of a sarawakian biawak on one of Kuching's roadside.

Til next time! Adios KK~

Updates on MouMou

She completely owned us! Too kawaii to be true. Sometimes, she would sit still near the wall like a ceramic puppy statue that you put out in your garden. The scenario was hilarious. She is a bundle of joy. The more i look into her eyes, the more i thought, "Man, she definitely looks like a cross of Golden Retriever and Bulldog!" But, i was told she is a cross of GR and German Shephard and that put me to O.o". Hrm..

She's only 1 month and 4 days old today. Puppies behave just like us human do. Our little puppy REALLY does play itself to sleep. The first minute, she nibbled at her paws. The next minute, she sleeps her way chasing after her dreams right on the spot where she played earlier on! We couldn't believe our eyes, witnessing the whole thing behind the door. She loves to be tickled by us. In the sense that she would also fall asleep half way while being tickled and we need to carry her into her "crib", pull the "blanket" over her and watch her sleeps soundly. Sounds like we're having a baby to take care, aren't we?

Took the video with N95 and it was at night. I didn't turn on the flash cuz i was afraid that MouMou might not like the glare.

Taa Daa~

MouMou trying to climb onto my laps cuz she smelled the chicken pie in my hand.

MouMou sniffing at my feet *smelly & faint*

MouMou & hubby (Guess what?! He was cleaning MouMou's pee pee and i cleaned MouMou's poo poo earlier on)

Another recent (just arrived today) addition in our family..again. Her name is MouMou 毛毛 in Cantonese. It sounds cute and the name suits the puppy. She's not even two months old now. She was born on 7th October 2007. The owner of the mother couldn't take care of so many puppies and gave them all away one by one. Some have been taken to farms. She is just completely adorable.

She's now trying to be friend with all the other senior dogs in the house and they seem to welcome Mou Mou too. Not a very big problem with that i guess. The thing is she's still too small in size.

A sad yet touching news

Thanks to this morning's newpaper deliverer. He misthrown our newspaper into the fish pond instead of staircases. Ended up, we had this different piece of newspaper from what we read all the while. And. Because of that, I came across this amazing four-legged friend real event story that made me wanna share with you all.

This amazingly bold Labrador Retriever, Pepsi, resides in Hong Kong with his owner, Portia. Since a very young age at 2 years old, Pepsi was diagnosed with lymph cancer 淋巴癌. Pepsi didn't want to give up his life. Neither did Portia. Portia sent Pepsi to the vet to undergo chemotherapy. He was the first dog to have undergone a chemotherapy treatment and it was a success despite the long suffering journey. The determination of both of them had extended Pepsi's life until today and he is now 14 years of age, which is equivalent to 98 homo sapiens years. I could not imagine how tough the journey was for both the dog and owner.

Now that the cancer strikes Pepsi for the third time over the past 12 years, he's now unable to walk or move around freely like he used to be. He could only lie on the floor, waiting to be fed while Portia tried her very best to stay at home most of the time to accompany Pepsi together with Pepsi's elder brother, Leo. I believe the time is coming to an end for Pepsi but whatever it takes, it's the process that matters. He is SO lucky to have an owner who is willing to spend tens of thousands on him regardless that he is only a dog. It's the love that the owner showered upon him that extended his life.

At this point, I would like to wish them the best to come.

*The reason why i wanna share this post is that I, for once, had a very very beautiful Labrador Retriever that for a very very reluctant reason, i had to give him away. For such a beautiful dog, i did not want any money from the pension couple because i was not selling my dog away. I only hope that he would have very good owners who can spend most of their time on him to compensate for the time loss i had with him. And Pepsi's look resembles Benson's so much for goodness sake! Even the act innocence look also look the same =_=*
